Old Lamp Bungalows
is situated next door to Ting Rai Bay Resort in the center of
Ting Rai Beach. If you're looking for someplace to get away
from it all and relax in a quiet, laid-back atmosphere then
you should check out Old Lamp Bungalows. The very
friendly Mr. Chai built his huts up in the woods on a hillside
behind the restaurant with an eye towards disturbing the
native vegetation as little as possible, and he cut only the
trees which were in the way. The walking paths to the rooms go
around the existing trees. In a world where just about
everybody claims to be "eco-friendly", Old Lamp really, really
is. You want a genuine jungle experience? This is as good as
it gets anywhere in the Southern Andaman Kingdom. |

They have a beachfront restaurant with good food (just like
everybody else on Koh Jum) and offers a wide choice of
ahaan Thai and Farang dishes, especially seafood. Resort
owner Mr. Chai has a full-on bread oven and you don't want to
leave Koh Jum without tasting "Mr Chai's Slo-Rise Bread
(Now Faster!)". It's
really yummy and his Slo-Rise Breakfast is perhaps the best on
Koh Jum. The
restaurant itself is an atmospheric little place right on the
beach with a superb view of Ting Rai Bay. |

Old Lamp has 12
bungalows in 2 different styles. Big and bigger. Each
has its own porch w/comfy chairs and a private bathroom with
shower and European-style toilet. The rooms are nicely
furnished and have electric fans. The bigger rooms have two
beds. Like the rest of Koh Jum
electricity from the generator is at night only. |

Old
Lamp is open all year. Discounts are available
should you wish to stay longtime and
they offer a hefty
off-season (May-October) discount. You'd be
hard pressed to find a better deal on
Koh Pu.
All around nice place. Well done. |
